Having found our hotel in Avignon, just outside the old town walls, we ventured inside the walls and found a bar, O’Neill’s, where we stopped to sample a few of the brews.
Tonight’s gig was at the Rouge Gorge inside the walls of the old town. Again, the tour bus had to negotiate, with the help of some locals, a warren of very narrow one-way streets. We eventually found the venue right next door to the Pope’s Palace. After setting up, but before the gig, we explored the old town and the very impressive Pope’s Palace, before settling down at an outside café for a couple of beers, whils I admired the view.
Inside the Rouge Gorge, although the decor and lighting were impressive, the sound system was woefully inadequate, and didn’t do the band justice. Still, the audience responded well.
Somewhere in Avignon, I managed to lose a small bag containing all my medication - pills, insulin, syringes, blood testing kit, the lot!
Before we left Avignon, we stopped at a supermarket for some bits & pieces, and enjoyed a sumptuous lunch in the car park, before setting off for Paris. Dominique, in the mean time, had left by train for Paris ahead of us.
